Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

Planetary Resources, Inc. (PRI), a Bellevue, WA aerospace technology company, is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer for the development of its innovative spaceflight products and ground systems. As a key member of Planetary Resources’ technical staff, you will be responsible for the development, usage, management, and maintenance of PRI’s electromechanical fabrication, assembly, and integration facilities. We are looking for a candidate with a broad skill set that is comfortable with both large-scale manufacturing and detailed precision tasks. Specific job duties may include:

• Mechanical part fabrication, rework, and repair
• Primary structure assembly
• Mechanism and opto-mechanical benchtop assembly
• Review of part drawings for manufacturing assessment
• Development of outside vendor relationships and execution of work orders
• Design and fabrication of jigs and fixtures for part fabrication and assembly
• Management of facility development and maintenance
• Development and leadership of PRI’s technician staff – mentoring both machinists and engineers in fabrication techniques and good shop practice

While not required, candidates should possess some of the following skills and education:

• Minimum AS in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent on-the-job experience, AS in Precision Machining desired
• Bachelors of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
• Experienced in shop management and facilities development
• Demonstrated and certified expertise in both manual and CNC machining as well as sheet metal operations – use of HSMWorks or MasterCAM CNC programming a plus
• Knowledgeable of ANSI Y14.5 standards and intermediate experience with drawing creation and GD&T interpretation
• Experience with assembly and integration procedures and floor operations for aerospace or precision electromechanical applications
• Experience with electronic test equipment and taking/recording test measurements in a lab environment
