Planetary Resources is an exciting aerospace startup in the Seattle area.  You may have heard about our recent Kickstarter campaign and other public announcements.  We are looking for a few good, enthusiastic Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science students for paid co-op positions.  To be considered, you should currently be of Junior, Senior, or Masters standing.  Co-ops will run from January through August 2014 (note that these are NOT summer only internships).

The vision of Planetary Resources is to mine near-Earth asteroids for raw materials, ranging from water to precious metals, through rapid development of innovative and cost-effective exploration technologies.  We are in the process of developing our Arkyd spacecraft and need students who possess experience in any of the following:

       Completion and demonstrated competency in relevant introductory classes covering electronics, digital logic, and digital design

       Experience with embedded systems

       Experience with protoboard-level circuit design, layout, and debugging

       Proficiency in C, C++, Python, SQL, object oriented programming, and scripting languages

       Experience with cross-platform application and/or web software development, ideally with a hardware interface

       Experience with user interface design and development

       Experience with real time operating systems

       Experience in RF and communication systems

       Experience with CMOS/CCD detector and optical imaging systems

       Experience with machine vision algorithm development and test

       Experience with bench tools and equipment (oscilloscopes, soldering, etc…)

       Good technical writing skills

       Excellent interpersonal communication

       Ability to perform well in a hands-on environment of fluid requirements and rapid turnaround
